About Me
I love being surrounded by people. There is a lot to gain and to give when interacting with others.
This was the main reason why I chose Youth Work as a profession. Back in 1997, I read for a Diploma in Youth Studies at the University of Malta. This reinforced my work with young people from all walks of life. For many years, I worked with youngsters in several youth centres, with prison inmates, people attending drug rehab programmes, and also disabled people, to mention just a few.
Between 1995 and 2006, I was in charge of the addiction-prevention programmes within the Community and in Secondary Schools at sedqa, the National Agency Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Prior to this, I volunteered for almost 2 years at Caritas (Malta).
Between 1997 and 2000 I served as the Director General of Daritama (Cospicua).
In 1999, I was actively involved in the setting up of a new European network for young people, PATH-European Youth Without Drugs, and participated in the several preparotary meetings held in various European countries that led to a European conference which the organisation held in Reykjavik (Iceland). I also served as the Director General of this newtork.
I worked with adults, such as parents, non-formal educators, teachers and other professionals.
As time went by, I merged my two major interests, travelling and theatre, developed several training programmes and tools, and used my skills abroad, where I facilitated drama and life-skills workshops.
